Capability Brown...

Capability Brown It's the one and only, every gardeners greatest icon, and he's certainly not a pansy! It's Capability Brown!! .... Now you may be asking who on earth is Capability Brown, well so was I at one point! But I watched this amazing documentary following 300 years of Capability Brown; England's Greatest Gardener. I mean his name wasn't really Capability, it was Lancelot but Capability Brown stuck because he would always say that people's gardens had the capability of greatness. Pretty clever actually.  He designed over 170 gardens surrounding the finest country houses in Britain. I mean when you look...

Margaret's Tutu...

Margaret's Tutu Inspired by Newcastle's own Margaret Dale; a woman who became Britain's most distinguished producer of ballet for TV in ballet's golden age!  She started out as a Sadler's Wells Ballet principle dancer (Which is now the Royal Ballet). And excelled through hard work, determination and a pink tutu!  This colour is a beautiful pale pink, perfect for every inspiring ballet artist or those in need of a sophisticated touch. It makes me think a little of Billy Elliot to be honest!   That feels like an age ago that film!  Anyway if you're looking for a beautiful colour...

Willow Burn...

Willow Burn This colour was inspired by the remarkable work that Willow Burn Hospice in Lanchester provides. 70% of their funding relies solely on charitable donations and sponsors; Bescol are proud to support Willow Burn, with 20% of our profits on each tin from our Northumbria Heritage collection donated to this charity!  The colour green is inspired by their logo which gives an uplifting feeling; the same as when you spend hours in the great outdoors enjoying nature! This colour evokes harmony, peace and restfulness in a room.  My uncle recently had a stroke and the care that he received...

Cragside Bloom...

Cragside Bloom  Cragside House is a beautiful house; which was the first house in the world to be lit by electricity, generated through hydropower! It was even visited by the prince and princess of Wales. I've been to this amazing house and It is drowning in history and incredibly interesting technology, made by many women no less!  This colour is inspired by the beautiful famous rhododendrons that litter the Victorian gardens of Cragside house, surrounding the lakes and moors.  This colour is a beautifully romantic shade, extremely versatile and will look amazing with both metallic and neutral colours. So if...

Red Dust...

Red Dust A homage to the steel works in Consett, County Durham. Consett was once littered with a red sky caused by the red iron oxide dust that only cleared in the 1980s when the steel works closed. This colour is warm and inviting; much like the people of Consett. A versatile colour that is complimented by green, creams and blues!  I live just outside Consett and growing up I learnt about what a rich history this area had, so many hard working people that knew nothing other than a red sky. People who's lives changed dramatically in 1980.  Recently there...
